Coming from Higham Hamlet:

Take the Northampton Road toward the A45. Go past the left-hand Hayway turn. There are houses either side of you. You do not
live here so please don't stop for tea & biscuits. When these houses stop you will see, if it's light enough or if you have good working headlights, a wooden-fenced field on your left ... .. and on your right .. . the entrance to the Bowls Club yippee you're here!!

Coming from Rushden Village:
Just before trundling up Higham Hamlet hill snatch a leftie along the leafy Hayway. At the end please slow down and look before turning left onto the Northampton Road. There are houses either side of you. You do not live here so please don't stop for coffee & cake or a shower and a bit of telly. When these houses stop you will see, if it's light enough or if you have a superb torch, a wooden-fenced field on your left ... .. . and on your right .. . the entrance to the Bowls Club yippee you're here!!

Coming from the A45:
Ignore the first slip road into Rushden. This would be a slip-up. Try the next one which leads into a retail/commercial area hosting Waitrose, Lidl, & the Needlessly Awful pub/restaurant. You do not want these places, they don't play chess. So as you go around
the main roundabouty take the third left toward this area and then keep left over the baby roundabouty avoiding all of the retail gubbins. You are now on the Northampton Road, well done, nearly there! Drive past the first house on your right and the first couple of houses on your left. Even closer now. Opposite where the field on your right stops is the entrance to the Bowls Club, woohoo you're here!! Ignore the field's horses, they don't play chess.

Coming from Above:
Check the weather forecast for clemency & hire a good quality balloon. Please don't scrimp, you get what you pay for and if you
go all cheapo you'll regret it. Remember to take a bucket of birdseed especially attractive to the crows that are pecking the bejesus out of our outdoor Bowling green. Oh, and please take a gun too, or even better, a flamethrower, you'll get more of them pesky crows. You'll also need to make some mini crow-hook tethers out of string or something. Good luck with that. Hit the gas and rise to around 200 metres before shouting; "Oi Crows! Free Bowling Green Flavoured Food!"and throw some into the air.
Once adequately mobbed by them pesky crows lasso as many as you can and tether them to your balloon basket. Stop throwing the food and hide it. The crows will automatically head for and home in on the outdoor green of our hosts, Rushden Town Bowling Club. Once above the green please shoot/flame as many of the crows as you can for a nice gentle landing.
Thank you very much for helping out the club! You don't need to worry about ballooning home as once you're here you'll see
that we are linked by road and you can drive home like normal people.

Coming from Below:
Please DO NOT tunnel beneath the Bowling Club, it'll collapse. What on earth were you thinking? Please be serious.

Once arrived at the Bowls Club:
Park in one of the free spaces provided and look for the main entrance with the yellow railings leading down to the front doors. This may be obscured by charred crow corpses. If a bowling member is on their way in you can sneak in behind them - just say something general & innocuous like, 'Thank goodness them there pesky crows have gone eh?'. You will immediately be taken for a lifelong bowler and accorded every courtesy. If the front door is closed there's an intercom buzzer panel just on the right, please press it and wait. Perhaps best to have a tent and a flask in the car boot just in case. Once the door is opened and you can get in you should walk straight forwards into the club where you'll see the bar on your left. Our casual playing area is straight ahead further, in the lounge-cum-extension area. Come and have a game. Congratulations and WELCOME TO RUSHDEN CHESS CLUB!!
